ABSENTEEISM: WHAT IS IT?
The Absenteeism index refers to the delay, absence or early departure of an employee at work, with or without justification. It also aims to measure the degree of wasted labor, being it in hours or in percentage.
HOW IT AFFECTS THE MANAGEMENT OF YOUR COMPANY?
There is a drop in productivity;
There is work overload for other employees;
Affects the quality of the product or service that the company offers;
There is a flaw in the relationship between management and the employee;
It can result in the dismissal and delay of hiring another person to do the service;
Can generate high turnover rate.
HOW TO CONTROL?
The company's infrastructure compromises the rate of absenteeism. Delays due to problems of a geographical and environmental nature can also influence (the employee resides in a distant neighborhood or without access when it rains, for example.) Therefore, dialogue is the best way to deal with what is in disagreement between company and employee. In these cases, the human resources of the company can interfere directly, following the activities of this employee, talking and monitoring the entry, exit and presence of this employee in the company.
Remember: if the reasons are diseases, diseases in the family, or serious personal problems, control is practically impossible to do. Managers should act with good judgment.
FORMULA / COMPOSITION:
To calculate this index, one must multiply the hours absent by 100 and divide by the total hours worked, generating the percentage of presence of the employee:
TOTAL HOURS ABSENT x100 / TOTAL HOURS WORKED
APPLICATION:
Indicator to determine the operational efficiency of a specific sector of the company. Assists in the management of the establishment plan.
REFERENCE MARGINS:
Because it is an index applied in several areas of the company, there is no margin considered standard, but values ranging from 2.5% to 3.0% per month are acceptable.
